Swift Campout: All Bodies on Bikes Seattle Chapter
$60.00
SOLD OUT
Join the Seattle chapter of All Bodies on Bikes on a 15 mile casual, no-drop ride to Swift Campout basecamp on Vashon Island. This ride starts in West Seattle at the Water Taxi landing on Alki Beach.
Official Info
The 15-mile ABOB Seattle route will start at West Seattle’s Water Taxi landing, and bikes along paths and low-traffic roads to the Fauntleroy ferry terminal. We will take the ferry to Vashon, where we will slowly climb the steep roads up from the ferry dock. We will stick to lower-traffic roads, but expect some punchy climbs. We will ensure we all stay together and walk steep hills as needed. Our destination is the AYH Ranch, where we will meet up with other groups for Swift Campout. Our group is intended for folks new to bike camping and looking for a no-drop, slower-speed group.
View the route HERE. For everyone’s comfort and safety, riders should be comfortable riding the hilly 15-mile route at a pace of about 8-10 miles per hour with their fully-loaded bike.

Saturday 6/22 – 9:00am, 13.5 miles, 1000′ elevation. Meet at the West Seattle Water Taxi landing. We will pedal around Alki beach to Fauntleroy Ferry landing, aiming for the 10:25am ferry to Vashon Island. Once on the Island we will stick to lower traffic roads and take our time on the hills. We will meet other groups of riders at camp to celebrate bike camping, summer solstice and the 10th anniversary of Swift Campout!
Sunday 6/23 – 11:00am, 13.5 miles. We will roll out from camp at 11am sharp. Folks are welcome to amble home on their own or join a different group heading back to Seattle, but please let your ride leader know if you are finding your own way home.
Some Camp Highlights:
- Tie Dying Station. BYO garment to tie dye; we’ll have a limited number of shirts to choose from as well.
- Coffee Roasting Demo with Coava Coffee
- Weather permitting, full moon gazing with friends
- Beverages, treats, and light breakfast provided by Swift Industries
- AYH Ranch offers showers, a shared kitchen area, covered area for hanging out
Optional bonus miles:
- Drop your gear at basecamp and head out with Swift Industries’ Co-Founder Jason Goodman to explore the trails and single track on Center Forest, capping it off the cider at Dragon’s Head Cidery.
We suggest a bike in good working order for this excursion with a wide range of gears for climbing hills. You will need to be able to bring your camping gear on your bike or on your body. We recommend racks on your bike with panniers or bags attached to your bike frame. Please bring essential tools and a flat repair kit, though we can help if there are any issues.
Registration guarantees you a camp spot, and covers firewood, s’mores supplies, light refreshments and light breakfast.
Please bring your own dinner and supplemental breakfast goodies.
Ferry tickets are not included.
